Boundaries of Artificial Intelligence

ul. Podchorฤ…ลผych 2, 30-084 Krakรณw, Poland, Krakow

The Department of Cognitive Science at UKEN invites researchers and scholars to participate in the conference: The rapid development of artificial intelligence is reshaping our understanding of cognition, consciousness, and the nature of the mind. Advances in computational modeling, neuroscience, and neurotechnology raise fundamental questions about the possibility of Whole Brain Emulation (WBE), understood as the reconstruction and simulation of the human brain in silico. At the same time, progress in artificial intelligence brings increasing attention to the potential emergence of advanced and possibly superintelligent systems. These developments raise critical questions concerning controllability, safety, and the long-term trajectory of human civilization. In this context, issues of AI alignment, strategic timing of technological development, and global coordination become central. This conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, computer science, philosophy, and the social sciences. We welcome contributions addressing theoretical foundations, technical feasibility, as well as philosophical, ethical, and strategic implications of the transition from computational models to artificial and emulated minds. The conference will consist of thematic panels featuring a series of presentations followed by discussions on the proposed topics. Each presentation will last up to 15 minutes and will be followed by a 5-minute Q&A session. ๐Ÿ“ UKEN, Krakรณw ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ 20 November 2026 โณ Abstract submissions are open until 30 September 2026 ๐ŸŒ Working languages of the conference: English and Polish ๐ŸŽ“ Participation in the conference is free of charge.
